How Can You Support Lions Clubs Haiti Relief Effort?

Friday, January 29, 2010

If you, or anyone you know, would like to personally contribute to LCIF’s (Lions Clubs International Foundation)Haiti relief efforts, you can send donations to:

LCIF
300 W. 22nd St.
Oak Brook, IL
60523
Attn: Donor Services

Or you can donate online at www.lcif.org/donate.

If you would like to know what your contributions are going toward, just take a look at some of the photos in the blog post below. The ground efforts from Lions in Haiti are staggering. And to give you an even better idea of what your dollars can help with, according to the LCIF website:

$25-$50 - can provide water, food rations, clothing, and shoes for one or more families to keep them protected and sustained for at least one week or more.

$100-250 - can provide medical supplies and labor for one shift of emergency first aid for the many, many injured

And dollars in excess of $500 go toward rebuilding homes and infrastructure. Every little bit helps, so please consider making a contribution. Together, even here from Livingston County, we can make a difference.

Lions Helping with Haiti Disaster

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

As you all are aware of by now, on January 12, 2010, a 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, and country already struggling with poverty. In fact, many Lions were already on the ground in Haiti aiding Haitian Lions Clubs when disaster struck. Immediately once word spread of the devastation, Lions around the world sprung into action and dedicated countless volunteers and a lot of financial support to help the people of Haiti. Most of this was done through Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)--the face of humanitarian work of Lions clubs.

To those of you who are uncertain of what Lions do, or what your Lions donations dollars support, below are some ideas of how Lions are making a difference globally. We're very proud of our local work to help the Livingston County community, but here is a case where we are VERY proud to be helping the global community. Accordingly, the Brighton Lions have responded by sending in a sizable contribution to LCIF to aid with their efforts.

Please take a moment to look at these photos and send a good thought to the people of Haiti who are suffering. Please also contributing to LCIF's Haiti Relief Fund. Your help is greatly needed and your generosity is very appreciated. Thank you!

Giving Thanks for Many Holiday Helpers

Monday, November 30, 2009

Our efforts this Thanksgiving to help feed the needy of Livingston County were incredibly successful, thanks to the hard work and dedication of many volunteers. Through all of our combined efforts as a community, we were able to provide over 150 families with a Thanksgiving dinner this holiday season.

We would especially like to thank the following volunteers who really went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting our Lions Club in helping others:

  • Cub Scout Pack 366 (from Hutching Elementary)
  • Cub Scout Pack 347 (from Hornung Elementary)
  • The volunteers from Keller-Williams Realty in Brighton
  • The Brighton High School Varsity Hockey Team
  • Gleaners Food Bank, and all of their dedicated workers
  • Captain Jenny & The Salvation Army

Our work this Thanksgiving was so successful thanks to all of these hard-working folks and the many Lions who donated their time, money, and services, that we are making plans to expand our operation to include some Christmas assistance to the Salvation Army.

Photos of this year's Thanksgiving projects are available in the photo section of this website. We hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving, and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
