About Us

Who are the Brighton Lions?

Founded April 22, 1959, The Brighton Lions serve through fund raising and community service efforts to help the blind, visually impaired, needy, and youth of our Livingston County community. Our Club of 35 members is a group of volunteers--mostly Brighton residents--who offer their time and services to make a difference in Brighton, the state of Michigan, and the world as a whole. For more information on specific causes, projects, and programs we support, please visit our Community Projects & Fundraisers section.

What is Lionism?

We are part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world. Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas working together to help people in need. Beginning in 1917, the association of Lions Clubs has provided millions of people with the opportunity to give something back to their communities. Known for working to aid the blind and visually impaired, Lions also participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters. Most people in Michigan are also familiar with Lions' work with Leader Dogs for the Blind, which is just one of many great services and activities that we support.

What can I do to help the Lions Club causes?

First and foremost, we are always looking for new members to attend meetings and help work as volunteers at our community events. If you can spare a few hours here and there, would like to meet more members of the community, and want to make a difference here in Livingston County, please stop by one of our meetings and see what we're all about. You're always welcome. We meet the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, 7:00pm, at our Lions Den.

If you're unable to become a Lion, your support through donations is always appreciated. Without your consistent help, we would not be able to contribute to all of the worthy causes, people, and organizations in need. Thank you very much for your support.
