- Brighton Senior Center
- Penrickton Center for Blind Children
- Kids Wing emergency medical transportation
- Brighton High School scholarships for graduating seniors and all-night party
In order to help support these wonderful causes, we use our volunteer efforts to serve the community and raise funds through the following projects:
Monthly All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinners!
On the first Friday of every month join us at our Lions Den between 4:30-8:00pm for a wonderful meal of pasta, garlic bread, salad, beverage, and dessert. This delicious fundraiser brings community members together to sit down and enjoy a meal together.
Chocolate Easter Bunnies
In late winter and early spring we have delicious solid milk chocolate Easter Bunnies available for purchase. They're stamped with the Lions Club logo and (in the spirit of the religious holiday) help to support the community. Proceeds from bunny sales support our Lions Club and all of the many projects and organizations we support. If Easter's coming up and you'd like to purchase some chocolate bunnies for children or adults in your life (or even for your group, business, or organization!), please email us here at our website.
ROAR! for Thanksgiving Food Drive
Every November we are out in front of local stores, such as VG's in Brighton, collecting cash donations and non-perishable foods that we take to Gleaners Food Bank and use for the Thanksgiving baskets we hand out. If you see us collecting food in our shopping carts, be sure to bring or purchase a few goodies to add. The food goes right back to the Livingston County community and gives families happy holiday memories. The food and funds we collected in 2011 enabled us to feed 210 families in Livingston County.
Thanksgiving Baskets for the Needy
Each year hundreds of less fortunate Livingston County families turn to Gleaners Food Bank to provide them with food for their family’s Thanksgiving dinner. The Brighton Lions supply the means for this to happen – in the form of cash donations, food donations, and volunteer help to bring it all together. With the assistance of local Boy Scouts troops and the Brighton HS Varsity Hockey Team, we build Thanksgiving dinner boxes at Gleaners, and distribute them to families in need before the Thanksgiving holiday. We usually serve over 200 Livingston County families.
Lion Bob Iannuzzi Memorial Golf Outing
Every May we invite golfers to come out to the Jackal golf course and enjoy a round of golf and good food. Each year, many local businesses and community members generously sponsor holes and provide door prizes. Proceeds from the outing benefit the Brighton Lions Club and Community Den and our many local projects.
Summer 50/50 Raffle
Each summer we sell 50/50 raffle tickets to raise funds for our Club and Community Den. The jackpot rises as we sell more tickets, and the 2008 winner took home over $1,200. Watch for our Brighton Lions booths set up at downtown Brighton festivals during the summer! We'll have tickets on-hand, along with an assortment of golf balls for sale!
Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast
Join us on Independence Day at our Community Den for delicious flapjacks, sausage, coffee, and juice. We open just as the Downtown Brighton parade ends, and welcome community members to enjoy a great breakfast for a good cause. Among our many guests, we're honored to welcome the Brighton Fire Department each year and give them a hearty breakfast.
Candy Cane & White Cane Fundraisers
Each December (Candy Canes) and May (White Canes), our volunteers collect donations outside of VG's grocery store in Brighton. Watch for us to be handing out peppermint candies, white cane stickers, and friendly greetings.
